Founding story of CCC

Community Care Collective started in March 2023.

Harpreet and Lily sat in the sun on a park bench the day after the 2023 United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 67) and bonded over similar passions and lived experiences as well as over how exhausted and burn out they were, and sadly, this not being the first time they had experienced this through years of advocacy work in these spaces as young people, fighting for justice.

We noticed a distinct lack of space for community care in advocacy spaces, given our identities are so often melded together with our work and passions, at the expense of our mental and physical health.

Both for long time having ideas for a space to which both completing each others ideas, Harpreet, Breaking the Taboo on social issues, Lily, community creative healing space focused on activism burn out/mental health, joined forces.  Having enough of the issues young people faced in these spaces such as burn out and exploitation, have a space for young people all across the world unite, learn, unlearn, and change the status quo of the systems barricading our true potential..

We decided on that park bench in March that the way things were are going to change. Shortly after wonderful Vrushali saw our first tweet and beautifully completed the trio. Each carrying our own strengths, experiences and passions, stepping in for each other when one needing a break or having more capacity than the other.

Hence the 3 co founders were organically born and so was the seeds and dreams of community care planted.

Now only August 2023, and only done so much due to the support and networks around the world.
